This move is in preparation for the wider adoption of A2L refrigerants, which have lower global warming potential (GWP). Copeland's next-generation A2L-optimized compression technologies include refrigerants such as R-32, R-454B, R-455A, R-454C, and R-454A. The company has also qualified various components for use with A2Ls, including rotalock service fittings and electronic componentry. Copeland has invested in its laboratory and manufacturing facilities to accommodate A2L product development. They have 42 A2L performance test rooms, 240 A2L life testing stands, a state-of-the-art power electronics lab, and more. This commitment ensures that Copeland can provide lower lead times and meet the changing demands of the industry. By optimizing its compressors for use with A2L refrigerants, Copeland is helping the HVACR industry transition to more sustainable and environmentally friendly refrigerants while maintaining reliability and performance.
